Improving patient comfort, care, and healthy outcomes is a part of Blount Memorial Foundation’s mission. By applying for grants and managing donations, equipment has been provided to assist our community.
Sensory Room #1
This colorful room is used for patients during their therapies at our Springbrook Pediatric Rehabilitation location. It was made possible by a generous 4-year, $100,000 donation by Mr. William Ed Harmon.
Sensory Room #2
This colorful room is the second of its kind and is used for patients during their therapies at our Springbrook Pediatric Rehabilitation location. It was made possible by a generous 4-year, $100,000 donation by Mr. William Ed Harmon.
Pediatric Rehabilitation Tools
Often insurance doesn’t cover the cost of therapy tools for patients. With the help of several grants, therapy tools were provided to patients at our Springbrook Pediatric Rehabilitation location. Other items such as updated toys and books, feeding therapy and sensory motor tools were also provided through funds raised by the Foundation.
Breast Center
Several updates to the breast center were made possible through generous donations. A lead shield to protect staff when providing mammograms, a robe warmer, new robes, bariatric chairs for the waiting room, and a breast board are just a few of the items generous donors have made possible.
Cardiac Care
Medical Fitness scholarships for patients needing supervision while exercising is one way the Foundation assist cardiac care patients. Recumbent bikes, treadmills, a LUCAS device, and CATH Lab renovations are other ways the Foundation assists patients.
Covid Projects
In September 2020, through the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF), the federal CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) provided payments to state, local and tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation applied for and received a $1,061,537 grant. These funds are designated for three programs:
Program 1
A specialized COVID treatment tent was equipped through grant funding with portable x-ray equipment, supply carts, gurneys, heat & air, and electricity was purchased to expand treatment areas for patients needing care for COVID-19
Program 2
Due to grant funding, the Foundation was able to increase critical care capacity for COVID-19 patients by purchasing additional monitors, ventilators, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) and specialized proning pillows for respiratory therapy.
Program 3
A permanent multiple-bay awning area was constructed at the East Tennessee Medical Group to provide COVID-19 curbside testing.
