About The Foundation

The Foundation provides financial support for basic necessities such as food, clothing, prescriptions, and oxygen to the uninsured and underinsured patients in our community.

All funds raised by the Foundation benefit our patients and supports hospital programs.

Blount Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)3 with Blount Memorial Hospital being our sole member. Blount Memorial Hospital also provides all operating expense for the Foundation so ALL funds raised benefit our patients.  To see a little bit more about us, please watch the video the Foundation created in partnership with Pellissippi State Community College to commemorate the Hospital’s 75th anniversary and the Foundation’s 33rd anniversary.

  • Basic clothing for patients
  • Patient prescriptions

  • Transportation to follow-up appointments or cancer-related infusion treatments
  • Urgently needed equipment to promote patient healthy outcomes
  • Management of several health related scholarships

Meet Our Board And Staff

The 2021 Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of experienced community leaders and volunteers who have agreed to complete fixed-year terms to support the Foundation’s outreach and charitable activities in our community.

Our staff handles the day-to-day operations and ensures all funds are used to support our mission, ensuring the health of our entire community, especially those in need.

Matthew Haralson is an attorney with Kizer & Black, Attorneys, PLLC, practicing primarily in the areas of estates and trusts and representing not-for-profit businesses. He has been with Kizer & Black since 2002.

Mary Beth West is a public relations executive with more than two decades of experience managing marketing and communication strategies and campaigns. She is a member of the Washington, D.C.-based Ethics & Compliance Initiative. She serves as vice chair of the board.

Joy Carver owns Dandy Lions Gifts in downtown Maryville and is a member of the Blount Chamber board. She is a Leadership Blount alumnus and former chair of the Maryville City Schools Foundation.

Joe Dawson served as administrator for Blount Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years prior to his retirement from the role in 2010.

Dr. Philip Hoffman is a community volunteer and a retired cardiologist who practiced at Blount Memorial Hospital for 21 years before retiring in 2013.

Lea Anne Law served the University of Tennessee for 30 years in various roles, including Director of Healthcare Executive Programs at the Haslam College of Business, Director for Communications and Outreach at the UT Health Science Center Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, and Marketing Manager for UTK’s University Outreach and Continuing Education.

Keri Prigmore is the director of attendance for Alcoa City Schools and chair of both the Maryville Planning Commission and Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission. She serves on the boards of New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center and Family Promise Blount County.

Boyce Smith serves as the Market eCommerce Manager for Walmart’s Knoxville market. For 30 years prior to accepting his current position, Mr. Smith was a Walmart store general manager, 21 years of which he spent as general manager at the Alcoa Walmart location.
